CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A 17-year-old was arrested after fleeing police at 105 mph and abandoning the car on the side of the road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
On September 2, state troopers attempted a traffic stop on I-75 after a black Mercedes raced by at over 100 mph, constituting a super speeder under the new Florida law.

The teenage boy driving the car did not stop for police and tried to flee. He eventually came to a stop on the side of the road in a wilderness preserve area and abandoned the car in a few feet of water, FHP said.
He was located by troopers shortly after and placed under arrest.
The teen, who was not identified by FHP, was charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, super speeding, hit-and-run and resisting arrest without violence.
