REDDICK, Fla. (WFLA) — A Marion County deputy shot a man Friday who was allegedly trying to run over another deputy during a pursuit.
According to NBC affiliate WESH, deputies responded to a residence in Reddick after receiving reports of a suspicious individual in the area.
At the scene, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle they say was spotted recklessly leaving the scene.
Deputies said that the driver refused to stop, leading to a pursuit that ended north of Highway 329 on NW Gainesville Road.
At this point, deputies said the driver refused to exit the vehicle and attempted to run the deputies over in an attempt to continue to flee.
Another deputy shot the suspect as he continued to drive a lower speed until he finally came to a stop in the 12600 block of North Highway 441.
The driver was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition.
