Florida Republicans have glowing praise for Pam Bondi as she leaves her role as the U.S. attorney general.
On the other hand, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried posted to X: “Please don’t send her home!?!?!?,” pointing to Bondi’s Florida roots.
President Donald Trump announced Bondi’s departure Thursday.
Trump said Bondi “will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.”
Former U.S. Sen. Rick Scott praised Bondi. He served as governor and she as Florida attorney general together from 2011 to 2019.

U.S. Rep. Jimmy Patronis, a Republican from Fort Walton Beach, shared kind words of Bondi.
“Attorney General @PamBondi has been a tireless public servant who delivered real results and justice for the American people. I wish her continued success in her next chapter and look forward to working closely with @DAGToddBlanche and @POTUS to Make America Great Again,” Patronis posted to social media minutes after the news broke.
Patronis, former chief financial officer of Florida, and Bondi overlapped for about a year and a half while serving on the Florida Cabinet.
Former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Republican, was Trump’s first nominee for attorney general but he resigned before being confirmed.
“Pam Bondi will be known as one of the great crime fighters of our time. She is a patriot who has all of our appreciation,” Gaetz posted to social media.
Democrats were less complimentary.
“I have been calling for Pam Bondi to be impeached or fired, and I’m glad that has now happened. Her blatant disregard for the Constitution and her role in the continued cover-up of the Epstein files was and is despicable,” U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost, a Democrat from Orlando, said Thursday.
“For months, my office has been working to uncover this administration’s handling of the Epstein files, reviewing how records were managed, what was withheld, and how information was presented to the public. That work has raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability, and it is ongoing,” Frost continued.
“Pam Bondi has not testified under oath about her role in these decisions. That testimony is scheduled for April 14, and it needs to happen. Her removal from office does not change her legal obligations. The subpoena remains valid, and the American people deserve answers.”
