PORT ORANGE, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man was arrested after officers say he led them on an intense car chase in an attempt to flee a traffic stop on Wednesday.

Video posted by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shows police pursuing a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Christian Will Ottinot.

According to VCSO, during the chase, Ottinot reached speeds of 118 mph as he attempted to evade Port Orange police.

In the dash camera video, Ottinot can be seen swerving through traffic and running a red light as he continues to accelerate up and down I-95 with officers tailing behind.

The pursuit ended when a PIT maneuver executed by VCSO Sheriff Mike Chitwood spun the vehicle, driven by Ottinot, into a median strip.

“Hopefully, when they show all the video from the dash cam from the deputies from what happened in Port Orange, it’ll put a compelling picture together for a judge that, hey, this guy doesn’t need to be out on the road,” Chitwood said.

“This is how people get killed.”

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ottinot and charged him with fleeing from law enforcement, reckless driving, and a Florida Super Speeder violation, along with other criminal traffic citations.
